These trends may well be seen as the visible result of a profound political, economic and social post-socialist transformation of the country and its capital. Urban development and architectural design Bucharest is characterized largely by the heritage of socialist urban development - which determine incurred in the 1950 housing estates and in particular the radical transformation of the city under Nicolae Ceausescu in the 1980s, today the physiognomy of the city.
